Railway Service Contractors is proud to have been selected by Diesel Motive Company to cosmetically restore locomotive #156 to the paint scheme used to celebrate America’s Bicentennial in 1976.

Arriving at RSC’s Kansas City, Kansas locomotive shop on May 15, 2026, the locomotive was scheduled for display at Kansas City Union Station as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration on July 4.
Through various contacts, we were fortunate enough to acquire a copy of the original Milwaukee Road paint diagram for this locomotive, which clearly identified the paint used during the original application. These drawings also included the dimensional details of the arc, allowing it to be accurately represented on the finished product.
The locomotive was released from the shop on July 2 and picked up by Union Pacific for eventual delivery to the railroad serving Union Station.
I congratulate everyone at Railway Service Contractors on a job well done.
